Day 3

We got up at 9:30, had leftover pizza for breakfast, took forever to get ready, and got out of the hostel right at the 11o'clock deadline. The hostel let us store our gear, so we went out and explored some more. We went up the Calgary Tower, where I found out that despite his previous claims Ray is in fact afraid of heights (HA!), when I tried to get him to walk on the see-through floor. Next we went to the Saddledome, and on the way there saw the Grainorarium or something, which had a model train set that was the biggest I've ever seen, as a mock up of western Canada from Manitoba to Vancouver. We got some pictures of the Saddledome, but the guy that we got to take our picture on my camera cut the saddledome out of the pic >< At that point we decided we'd better get going if we were gonna catch the Oilers game in Edmonton, so back to the hostel, on the train, to wait at the stop that would take us from downtown to the bus depot. The bus to the Greyhound terminal turned up almost a half hour late, which meant that we wouldn't be able to catch a bus to Edmonton until 4o'clock, which in turn meant we wouldn't catch the Oilers tonight. Which wouldn't be too bad except they are out of town for a week after this and we dont' plan on sticking around Edmonton that long. But the bus trip took way too long and we didn't get to Edmonton until 7o'clock anyways, but we were still going to go, locking our stuff in a depot locker til after the game... but the locker ate almost all of my change, and they'd only give me $4 back, and by then the game would've been half over before we'd get down to the stadium. Instead we took a bus to the hostel, but there was no room there, so we had to search a couple hotels before we found one that actually had a room. Who would've thought Edmonton would be so busy. Well, Ray did, but the guy at the Calgary hostel said we wouldn't need a reservation blah blah blah... anyways, we're planning on staying here a couple days, then catching an Oilers game on the way back. Also, we are right on one of the trendiest streets in the city, and apparently Edmonton likes to party late, and so it's really friggin hard to get to sleep, since with the window closed it gets up to REALLY hot temperatures in the room, like unbearably hot. Have to turn the laptop up high in order to drown out the noise, Ray does the same with his discman.
